M S SUBBULAKSHMI - GURUVINA GULAAMA - PANTUVARALI - PURANDARADASA

Published on Jun 18, 2013 Smt. M.S.Subbulakshmi and Smt.Radha Viswanathan performed a special thematic concert comprising the compositions of Saint Purandaradasa at Hampi, Karnataka, in 1964. As is evident from the recording, the crowds poured in from all quarters once news spread that the Queen of Music would be singing an entire concert featuring only Dasara Padas. The accompanists were Sri Kandadevi Azhagiriswami (violin), Sri T.K.Murthy (mridangam) and Sri T.H.Vinayakaram (Ghatam). The concert began with a lengthy Ugabhoga set to raga Pantuvarali. This was followed by "Guruvina Gulaamanaaguva Tanaka", also in Pantuvarali, Adi tala. This recording has been sourced from the personal archives of Smt. Radha Viswanathan. The original recording has been remastered to the best possible extent. Category Music License Standard YouTube License
